What should we wear for our session?
Wear something that feels comfortable, natural, and true to your style. You do not have to stick to only neutrals for beach photos—color can photograph beautifully on the coast when coordinated thoughtfully.
Rather than choosing outfits based only on photography trends, I often encourage clients to think about where they may display their images in their home. Choosing colors that complement your decor and personal style helps your photographs feel timeless and blend naturally into your space as artwork you will genuinely enjoy for years.
I am always happy to help guide outfit choices after booking to make the process feel simple and cohesive.
What if my children do not cooperate?
That is completely normal and expected. Sessions are intentionally designed to allow flexibility for movement, breaks, and natural interaction rather than expecting children to sit perfectly still. Some of the best moments come from simply allowing kids to be themselves.
What happens if the weather does not cooperate?
Beach weather can change quickly, but one of the advantages of working with an experienced Dauphin Island beach photographer is knowing how to adapt confidently to changing coastal conditions. I intentionally build flexibility into my schedule whenever possible so we have options if weather shifts unexpectedly during your stay.
Over the years, I’ve learned how to work with changing skies, strong Gulf Coast wind, harsh sun, fast-moving storms, and unpredictable beach conditions while still creating beautiful, natural images.I intentionally guide and position clients to work with wind and lighting in the most flattering way possible, including adjusting angles and movement to accommodate hair, dresses, veils, and children comfortably during sessions.
I am experienced with both natural light and off-camera flash photography, which allows me to pivot creatively when conditions are less than ideal rather than immediately canceling sessions. In many cases, we can adjust timing, location, lighting, or even pivot between sunset and sunrise sessions to create beautiful coastal portraits despite unpredictable weather.
And if the weather truly refuses to cooperate, I never keep your retainer over circumstances outside your control.
Do you offer sunrise sessions?
Yes. While sunset is the most requested time for Dauphin Island beach photography, sunrise sessions can be absolutely beautiful. Morning sessions often offer softer light, calmer wind, fewer crowds, and a quieter overall beach experience. Sunrise sessions can also be a wonderful alternative when evening weather conditions are unfavorable. Contact me for availability and booking details.
How far in advance should we book our photography?
Sunset dates on Dauphin Island book quickly, especially during spring and summer travel season. I recommend booking as early as possible once you have your dates confirmed.
Can large families book sessions together?
Yes. Extended family beach sessions are very common on Dauphin Island, especially for vacations and family gatherings. I can help guide group combinations efficiently while still capturing natural moments throughout the session. Do you shoot destination weddings?
Yes. I love documenting intimate weddings and meaningful celebrations in beautiful locations. If you are planning a destination wedding or beach ceremony outside of Dauphin Island, feel free to reach out for custom coverage information.
How long does it take to receive our photos?
Gallery delivery times vary slightly depending on the season and session type, but most galleries are delivered within two to three weeks. Your images will be delivered through an online gallery for easy downloading, sharing, and printing.
What kind of gear do you use?
I photograph sessions using professional Nikon cameras and Sigma Art lenses to ensure high-quality, consistent images in a variety of lighting conditions. While professional equipment matters, experience, lighting, and the ability to guide clients naturally throughout the session are what truly create beautiful photographs.
Can we print our own images?
Yes. Your gallery includes high-resolution digital images for personal printing and sharing. Professional print options are also available directly through your gallery for clients wanting high-quality prints and products.
Do I have to order prints through you?
Not at all. You will receive access to an online gallery where you can easily download your images and print wherever you prefer. I also offer professional printing through your gallery for clients who want high-quality prints with accurate color and finish.
